The 2019-20 season was Rich Brouwer’s first year the head coach of UNCW Hockey.

He’s won two national championships; one as a player for the Rochester Institute of Technology and a second as head coach of the U18 AA Jr. Hurricanes.

Coach Rich also serves as the Director of Youth Hockey at the Wilmington Ice House and Director of Operations for UNCW Hockey.

I am a coach because of my passion for the game of hockey. I believe in building a culture where everybody puts the team first. Nothing comes before the team. If nobody cares who gets the credit, the team can do incredible things. If you are going to have a successful team and season, you have to have the right people on the bus and make sure they are in the right seats. I want my teams to play with integrity and class, making the right choices before, during, and after each practice and game. You must play with passion, realize that there are no shortcuts, and no substitution for hard work. I believe in dreaming big, if not then why dream at all. I have had the great fortune to be a member of two National Championship teams. Once in college, playing for R.I.T (Rochester Institute of Technology) and the second as the head coach for the 18U “AA” Jr. Hurricanes.
